I thought you were making a space racing game though? Or is that another project?

Grin I think he gets the motion blur by shaking his screen as he takes the screen dump  Tongue

Nemo, stop giving my secrets away  Wink

Yes Chronix, the motion blur shader is taken from Rocket Commander  Smiley

I've given up on the space-opera idea for now, decided I'd rather write a pick-up-and-play game to start wth, and I like high-speed racing games like burnout, so thought I would give this a blast.

Currently getting the finishing touches to the physics engine working, but already, with no other racers in the game, it's a blast to play!  Grin

As soon as Reimer releases his next couple of tutorials I'll be adding perlin clouds and reflective water too...

BTW, Mike, Nemo and Chronix (and Reimer) will all be in the credits as this game wouldn't exist without your help and support over the past few weeks.

You're not getting any royalties though  Wink

What algorithm are you using to noise your water?

I'm not at the moment.  It's a static texture.  This will be looked at again when I've done the clouds.

Just gotta say, this is pretty fun, and with the shaders I suggested Daphyd, I can assume it looks really nice as well. Just needs some bugfixes and then its content addition time. Cheesy
You guys should know it looks a bit different to the above picture now Wink what with the reflective metal shaders and all. Cheesy

Hey Folks

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted - things have been really manic at work and I've not been spending many evenings on the net.

However, got a few more screenshots for you folks to show you how this game is progressing:

I'm going to try and put a couple of mini-diary style tutorials together if time allows... however my priority at the moment is to get this project finished!

Nice screens.

You should try to give some fading transparency near the border of the water. Something more like this: http://www.coniserver.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=THIRDPARTY&Number=693724&page=0&fpart=1

Congrats, nice screenshots.

I would l,ike to see it in movement, speccialy the effect that the water does when the ship pass over it, as I see in pic 2.

This is looking really promising.

Cheers

Hmm, interesting.. last year we made racing game called 'OctaneHorn' using XNA Smiley
It was just a school project so we burried the project after that it was "done".

http://www.innogiant.com/octanehorn_proto/

Ugly as hell, but at the time when project started XNA beta 1 was just few days old and most of our time went to documentation work (500+ pages, main focus in that course was documentation of the project :|)
