Mike,

We kind of had a chat about trying to get things moving here again on the IRC the other day. I think a good way of doing this would be for us to create some nice simple games using the HM engine and put them up as tutorials like "How to make Space Invaders" , "How to make a FPS", "How to make Tetris" but all very simple versions that people can take and use in there own versions or add to and improve here.

My version of the HM Engine is well out of date, so I'll need to update my version. I think it would be best if I dropped my flavor of it used the core HM engine. It will save confusion then I think.

What do you think?

I just mentioned the same idea to Chr0n1x in the 10 requests thread Cheesy

Any of us could easily write a game tutorial too, so it wouldn't be just me taking waaaaay too long to get things done. I think it is a really good idea though. The only thing we will have to make sure of though is to get the engine to a point where it can easily be used to make all those simple games and get any of the needed changes into the tutorials from the start (not a big deal, I do this a lot anyway :p).

We might divvy up the games and have each of us work on one and try to complete it with the fewest needed changes to the engine code as possible. If there are some things that would be better handled in the engine and are just simple changes/additions to the current code, I can merge them into the base engine and we can go from there.

Let me know what you think Smiley

You too Chr0n1x :p

Good idea, mate, I might have a play at a simple space invaders type thing. I know these simple things will be 2D (guess I could do a 2.5D version) but I guess we could then aim at all three platforms that way.

I suggest, we three take our games, write them up and if engine changes (additions) are required, we pass them on to each other to be included in the core.

One problem with this though. I will need to license the demo games as unusable elsewhere since there are people (ECHS BACHS in XBLCG) that just reskin things and submit them to CG for review and release... and I'd rather not have some no talent ass clown making cash off of our work with those kinds of techniques.

Maybe we should make them all using a .dll that has compiled into it a very large HAZYMIND DEMO GAME postprocessed across the screen or something like that.

Think we a stuffed in that respect as the demo's should be to show how to make games using the HM engine, and the only real way around it would be to only release binaries that are dotfuscated..

I guess the best thing to do would be for you to put them up on XBLCG and then release to the forum...? put them on for 200pts and split the income (lol) between us all.
