hey boys, just wondering if anyone has been able to get xsi models to display correctly in the hm engine.  im a bit of a fan of modtool 7.5 and would dearly love my exporting process to be as smooth as possible.  i have worked around this in the past, but now want it to work.

the problem is my models will display, but unfortunately they are also displaying a lot of extra meshes which i beleive to be the hidden input objects created by modtool.

the sample project supplied with modtool displays my created models just fine and is simply using mesh.draw after applying a basic effect, so thats the big difference between the sample project and the hm engine.

i checked the foreach modelmesh loop in the render method and in my test object, only two meshes are being drawn which is the correct amount, so i guess the vertex data is associated with one of those meshes somehow.

so i guess the big question is, why is the hm engine rendering method displaying extra content and how do i stop it?

update: i modified my code to use the rendering functionality of the xsi sample project and although it works it uses the built in basiceffect class provided in xna which i really dont want to use as i was looking forward to playing with shaders on a grand scale.

good news

the modtool did a dodgy update the other day, i say dodgy cos it crashed afterwards, but...

i find a new content importer in the softimage directory for xna 3.1 and guess what, my model displays correctly with the hazy mind rendering code.

dont know what they did different, i didnt come across anyone else with this problem, but its fixed, so im happy.

time to play with those pixel shaders Smiley
